Speedshow played host to the National Hot Rod Association Nationals,
hall 3 was jam-packed with absolutely stunning Hot Rods. It truly was
impossible to pick just one to vote for as “People’s Choice” they were
all so impressive and unique.
Again the exhibitors went to great lengths to offer Speedshow crowds an
amazing variety of vehicles, demonstrations, samples and special show
deals. A large impact was made by the V8 SuperTourer race series, with
many V8 SuperTourers and their drivers, including Greg Murphy, Simon
Evans and Angus Fogg making an appearance on the V8 SuperTourer stand.
Smits Group Performance Live & Meguiar’s Car Crazy Central were
alive and buzzing all weekend, with live Meguiar’s product
demonstrations, the official launch of the all new House of Kolor
Shimrin 2 range with special guest Nick Dahl (General Manager of House
of Kolor, USA) dishing out his product knowledge, advice and
demonstrations on the House of Kolor Digital Spraybooth. Dean Lovich
joined us again, producing an amazing House of Kolor air brushed canvas
artwork throughout the weekend. We had some awesome competitions
running, for lucky show goers to win an awesome “Enthusiast Winter Prize
Pack” full of everything you need to keep your car looking it’s best in
winter, and the chance for one lucky winner to go for a blast around
the track with Kayne Scott in the PEAK V8 SuperTourer, which was also on
display. A lot of effort went into putting together the stand, and this
was well recognised by the Speedshow Mystery Shoppers who awarded Smits
Group with Best Trade Stand at the 2012 Speedshow.
Our lucky winners of the Enthusiast Winter Prize Packs are: Jon
Neeley, David Timms, Murray Taylor, Kathy Ward, Chris Hughes, Jennifer
Ireland, Brad Coppock, Brad Souness, Warren Fraser and Beatrix Suciu.
Congratulations to you all, we know you will enjoy the fantastic prize
pack. The lucky winner of the PEAK V8 SuperTourer Hot Laps with Kayne
Scott is Ray Langman – this is the experience of a life time, the
adrenaline rush is simply too much for words.
The live action arena pulled the crowds even with the less then average
Auckland weather, with the well known names of D1NZ demonstrating
drifting and colourful burnouts with specialised coloured tyres. Jason
Bargwana had a blat around the live action arena in a mini – motorkhana
style, against some of the Auckland Mini Club members.
The annual Meguiar’s Car Crazy Charity Cruise was on once again but
unfortunately with the weather being less then average, the number of
cars was down on last year, however, the cruise still went ahead
starting at 10am at Smits Group/Meguiar’s Headquarters and arriving at
the ASB Showgrounds just before 11am for a lap of honour and a sneaky
burnout of two before parking up on display for the crowds to admire.
The cruise was open to “Show & Shine” ready hot rods, classics and
street machines with half of the proceeds to benefit Starship Children’s
Health.
Speedshow 2012 has been and gone, and each year the event gets bigger,
with a higher standard of cars being put on show, we had a fantastic
time, promoting our products, keeping our show cars clean and
fingerprint free, providing technical information about our range of
products from Meguiar's, House of Kolor, Rislone, Peak, Posh Pile and
Glass Science. We are very pleased to have taken home the Speedshow
Trade Stand of the Year Award for 2012 and we are looking forward to
next year!
